The team
We are looking for a Senior Corporate Counsel / Legal Manager to join our Legal team. We are a small team that takes care of the company’s legal matters including compliance, contracts, and transaction support. Our goal is to adequately manage the company’s risks and make sure they do not stand in a way of achieving our goals.  

The role
As Legal Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the company’s growth and everyday compliance. You will provide guidance on corporate governance, negotiate and draft contracts, manage risks, and develop plans and policies. This person also manages the legal squad – staff and resources – effectively.

Your responsibilities

  • Being responsible for managing the legal squad, supervising and encouraging their professional growth
  • Setting the strategy and goals for the legal team in alignment with the larger organizational goals
  • Defining and implementing key legal processes related to legal drafting, negotiations, and commercial settlement agreements
  • Contributing to the business’s strategy and decision-making processes alongside other senior leaders
  • Anticipating and planning for all legal risks, developing strategies to mitigate those risks
  • Advising the leadership team on legal matters critical to the growth of the business
  • Working closely with external advisors/ law firms in different jurisdictions, coordinating their work in relation to the full range of projects 
  • Providing research on and coordination of establishing operations in new jurisdictions/ geographical areaProviding counsel to staff in all departments on a variety of complex issues (e.g. advises on global employment issues)
  • Tracking long and short-term objectives and initiatives progress to ensure goals are achieved

  • Minimum qualifications

  • University degree in law (Dipl. iur., Mag. iur., J.D., or similar). For candidates that have obtained their degree in Latvia – the degree must include a full professional qualification as a lawyer)
  • Full command of English, including professional proficiency
  • 5+ years of prior work experience in a law firm or a large international company
  • 3+ years of experience leading a team
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills

  • Preferred qualifications

  • Good understanding of compliance matters and general IP law  
  • Good understanding of contract law  (both common law and civil law systems )and GDPR will be considered an advantage
  • Ability to work as a generalist
  • Previous experience in different fields of law
  • Ability to adapt to shifting work environment
  • Ability to work among other highly motivated individuals
